Drawer System Questions
More than most people expect, which is why we raise it early. A dual drawer system typically adds somewhere between 60kg and 100kg empty, depending on whether it's steel, aluminium or ply. Fill it and you can easily be carrying another 60kg on top of that. On a vehicle already running a bullbar, a canopy and long-range fuel, that adds up fast against your GVM. We'll work out what you have left before recommending a system, and sometimes the honest answer is a single drawer or a lighter build.
It comes down to what sits beside the drawers. A dual system fills the load space and gives you two separated compartments, which suits longer trips where recovery gear, tools and kitchen gear all need their own home. A single drawer leaves usable space alongside for a fridge, a water tank or anything too tall to fit in a drawer. Tradies often prefer a single with a full-width top; tourers usually end up with a dual. Bring the vehicle in and we'll measure it with you.
Not usually. Most wagon systems are designed to sit behind the second row with the seats still functional, though a longer system may stop the seats folding fully flat. If you're carrying passengers regularly, tell us — it changes which length we recommend. In a ute or a canopy the question doesn't arise, which is part of why canopy builds give you more freedom on layout.
Systems mount to existing tie-down or seat-mount points wherever the vehicle provides them, which keeps the install reversible. Some vehicles and some longer systems need additional mounting, and if drilling is required we'll tell you before we start rather than after. Either way it comes out again when you sell the vehicle, and plenty of customers take their system with them to the next one — we can quote a new fit kit for the replacement vehicle.
