Accessories for the Prado 250

Towbars, Roof Racks, Bull Bars & 4×4 Accessories for the Toyota Prado 250 (2024 on)

The 250 Series is a new Prado from the ground up. It's bigger, it tows more, and it shares its chassis with the LandCruiser 300, which means almost nothing from the old 150 carries over. This page covers what we fit to the 250 now, from towbars, towing mirrors and roof platforms to bull bars and more, along with the details that decide which parts suit yours. Everything here can be supplied and fitted at our four NSW stores in Kotara, Maitland, Artarmon and Burwood.

Tell us your Prado's grade and build date and what you've got planned for it. We'll put together the parts and a price.

What's Changed from the 150

If you're coming from a 150 Series, these are the changes that matter for accessories. They're also why parts from the old Prado won't fit the new one.

Good news for bike carriersWith the spare off the back and a top-hinged tailgate, towbar bike carriers are simpler on the 250. A tilting carrier still makes it easier to open the tailgate with the bikes on.

Prado 250 by the Numbers

The 250 is rated to tow 3,500 kg, but the gross vehicle mass (GVM) is what limits it. The weight on the towball counts against GVM, and it doesn't leave much room.
3,500 kgBraked towing, every grade
350 kgTowball download at full capacity
6,600 kgGCM, every grade
3,100 kgGVM on the GX and Altitude, up to 3,200 kg on the Kakadu
Towing a wide van?If your caravan blocks the view behind through the standard mirrors, you'll need towing mirrors. MSA makes power-fold mirrors for the 250 that replace the factory ones.
Panoramic sunroof? Some roof racks and platforms can't be fitted over a panoramic sunroof, so the right rack depends on your grade. Tell us which you have.

What We Fit to the Prado 250

Towing

Towbars and towing mirrors

We fit Hayman Reese's 3,500 kg towbar for the 250, with plug-and-play SmartClick wiring and a 7-pin flat plug. If you'll be towing more than 2,000 kg, we'll fit a brake controller such as the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite at the same time. For bigger vans, MSA's power-fold towing mirrors bolt into the factory mirror positions and keep the electric adjustment, heating, indicators and blind-spot monitoring.

Roof racks

Roof racks and platforms for the Prado 250

For touring, Rhino-Rack's Backbone mounts to the 250's roof and carries a full-length Pioneer 6 platform. Front Runner's Slimsport is a lower, light-bar-ready alternative with a 2210 × 1200 mm deck, but it can't go over a panoramic sunroof, so check your grade first. For lighter loads, there are three-bar systems and Rhino-Rack's Reconn platform.

Bull bars and protection for the Prado 250

Offroad Animal's Predator and Toro bars suit every Prado 250 grade, including the Kakadu. Both are ADR compliant and airbag compatible, and they work with the factory parking sensors, adaptive cruise radar and headlight washers. The Predator comes with a radar mount and a camera bracket, and adds about 42 kg once the factory bumper comes off. The Toro adds a welded top hoop. A Predator takes six to seven hours to fit, and we can wire in a light bar or a winch at the same time.

Prado 250 Questions

Every grade is rated to tow 3,500 kg braked and 750 kg unbraked, with a GCM of 6,600 kg. At full capacity that's 350 kg on the towball. GVM ranges from 3,100 kg on the GX and Altitude to 3,200 kg on the Kakadu. Check the plate on your own vehicle for its exact figures.
Not much. The 350 kg on the towball counts against GVM, which leaves roughly 230 to 265 kg for people, luggage and accessories, depending on the grade. A GX, for example, has about 255 kg to spare. If you're planning to tow near the limit, we'll help you choose lighter accessories so the setup stays legal.
Almost never. The 250 has a different body, a different chassis shared with the LandCruiser 300, a top-hinged tailgate and the spare wheel underneath. Towbars, bull bars, roof racks and drawers are all model-specific. Small, generic items like UHF radios and recovery gear can move across.
If your caravan or trailer blocks your view behind through the factory mirrors, yes. Most full-size vans are wider than the Prado. MSA's power-fold towing mirrors replace the factory mirrors and keep the heating, indicators and blind-spot monitoring, so you don't have to swap them on and off.
Not with the right bar. The Offroad Animal bars we fit are designed around the 250's parking sensors, adaptive cruise radar and headlight washers, and the Predator includes a radar mount and camera bracket. They're also airbag compatible and ADR compliant.
It depends on the grade. Full-length platforms such as Rhino-Rack's Pioneer 6 with Backbone and Front Runner's Slimsport suit the 250, but some racks, including the Slimsport, can't go over a panoramic sunroof. Tell us your grade and what you'll carry, and we'll match the right setup to your roof.
Yes. Towbars, towing mirrors, roof racks, bull bars and accessories are fitted at Kotara, Maitland, Artarmon and Burwood. Window tinting is done at Kotara and Maitland only. Call your nearest store with your Prado's grade and build date to book.

What our customers say
Wonderful people to deal with, very good throughout the process and delivered a quality hard lid for my vehicle. Were excellent with any after sales questions, making me feel like they wanted to look after their customers.
Darren M., Maitland
What a team! This is my 3rd set of roof racks I’ve had installed by these legends and this one was by far the most complex on my new work van. I have a pretty high attention to detail and Andrew in the office and Beau installing them absolutely nailed it. Very happy and I would have no hesitation in recommending them. Thanks again
James C., Kotara
Great store to get fitted out for roof racks and attachments for the car. They fitted my first set of roof racks and have helped me out with all the changes to my setup for over 10 years. Great and knowledgeable service too.
Christopher Y., Artarmon
