Details

When your journey pushes past the bitumen, Maxtrax gives you the confidence to keep moving. Built as a lightweight and easy-to-use recovery solution, it provides a dependable way to get unstuck when youre dealing with sand, mud, or snow.

Designed to remove the stress from recovery situations, Maxtrax delivers traction exactly where its needed. The aggressive, oversized cleats grip firmly into your tyre tread while biting into the terrain below, reducing wheel spin and helping prevent your vehicle from digging in further. The result is a smoother, safer, and more controlled recovery.

Compact and practical, Maxtrax is made to travel wherever your 4WD goes. At 1150mm long, 330mm wide and 85mm tall, each pair stacks down to just 95mm high, making storage simple alongside your touring or camping gear without sacrificing space.

Manufactured from UV-stabilised, engineering-grade reinforced nylon, Maxtrax is built to handle tough conditions while maintaining flexibility. It forms a stable base under your tyres and has been independently tested by the University of Queensland, proving it can flex completely around a 33-inch tyre without breaking.

At only 3.4kg per board, Maxtrax is easy to carry and position when it matters most. The double-edged design allows for quick placement under your tyres, while six integrated handles make handling straightforward in any environment. Built-in shovel ends on each side help clear excess material, speeding up the recovery process.

The Maxtrax Story

Maxtrax was created by Australian adventurer and 4WD author Brad McCarthy in 2001 after becoming stuck in soft sand during an outback trip. Determined to find a better solution, he spent months developing a lightweight, reliable recovery device designed to perform in the harshest off-road conditions.
