Auto Electrical Installation

From dual battery systems to portable solar power, Altapac Auto Electrical bring your car's electronics to life!

Your Trusted 12V Specialists

Auto Electrical Installation in Newcastle, the Hunter & Sydney

A 12V build is only as good as its worst connection. Altapac designs and installs dual battery systems, solar, driving lights, fridges and vehicle wiring across four NSW workshops — sized to your alternator, fused properly, and routed so it survives corrugations rather than working loose on the first trip. Whether you need a single Anderson plug or a full touring setup, we spec it around how you actually use the vehicle.

Power that holds up — properly sized, properly fused, properly installed.

Lighting & Electrical at Altapac

Most 12V problems we're asked to fix aren't product failures. They're undersized cable, a charger that doesn't suit the alternator, or a join that vibrated apart somewhere behind a guard. We build systems around the load you're actually running, then wire them so you can forget about them.
We can fit any brand, but these are the ones we carry
Where most builds start

Dual Battery Systems

Run a fridge, lights and charging without touching your starting battery. Sized to your alternator and your actual draw.

Solar & Charging

Fixed panels, blankets and DC-DC charging so you can stay put for days without running the engine to top up.

Driving Lights & Bars

Wired through a proper relay and loom, aimed correctly, and mounted where they won't cook the paint or block airflow.

12V Wiring & Outlets

Anderson plugs, USB and 12V sockets, fused distribution and tidy loom routing — the plumbing the rest of the build depends on.

Not sure what you need?
Most people aren't — and with 12V, guessing gets expensive. Tell us what you want to run and for how long, and we'll work backwards to the battery, charger and cable that suit. Give us a call or drop into one of our stores.
The rest of the system
A battery and a charger are the start. We supply and fit the components that hang off them, and we'll check the whole system draws within what your vehicle and alternator can actually deliver.

Stocked here, not ordered in

Our stores carry deep stock across the common fitments, so most jobs don't wait on a supplier. Ring ahead with your make and model and we'll confirm what's on the shelf before you drive over.
  • Same-day or next-day fitting on common kits, subject to stock
  • Batteries, DC-DC chargers, cable and fusing held in stock
  • Stock moved between stores when a part is held elsewhere
  • Guaranteed Fit — the right parts for your exact vehicle

What our customers say

Wonderful people to deal with, very good throughout the process and delivered a quality hard lid for my vehicle. Were excellent with any after sales questions, making me feel like they wanted to look after their customers.
Darren M. — Maitland

What a team! This is my 3rd set of roof racks I've had installed by these legends and this one was by far the most complex on my new work van. I have a pretty high attention to detail and Andrew in the office and Beau installing them absolutely nailed it. Very happy and I would have no hesitation in recommending them. Thanks again
James C. — Kotara

Great store to get fitted out for roof racks and attachments for the car. They fitted my first set of roof racks and have helped me out with all the changes to my setup for over 10 years. Great and knowledgeable service too.
Christopher Y. — Artarmon

Auto Electrical Questions

Fitting an accessory doesn't void your vehicle warranty on its own. Under Australian Consumer Law a manufacturer can only decline a claim where the accessory or its installation actually caused the fault. That's why we use vehicle-specific harnesses where they exist, take power from the correct points, and fuse everything to spec — so there's no argument about workmanship if a claim ever comes up. If your vehicle is new, tell us and we'll take the most conservative approach available for that model.
It depends on your alternator and your battery type. Most vehicles built in the last decade run a smart or variable-voltage alternator that won't fully charge an auxiliary battery through a basic isolator, and lithium and AGM batteries want a specific charge profile. A DC-DC charger delivers that profile regardless of what the alternator is doing. Older vehicles with a fixed-output alternator and a matched battery can sometimes run a simpler setup. Tell us the vehicle and we'll tell you which applies.
A set of driving lights or a couple of outlets is usually a few hours. A dual battery system with a DC-DC charger is typically a full day, because the cable runs, mounting and fusing all have to be done properly rather than quickly. A full touring build with solar, a fridge circuit and distribution can run to several days. We give you a firm time when we quote, and we'll tell you if the vehicle needs to stay overnight.
Yes, and we do it often — adding solar to an existing dual battery setup, replacing a charger, or tracing a fault in wiring we didn't run. We'll assess what's there first and tell you honestly whether it's worth extending or better to rewire. If we find something unsafe, we'll show you rather than just quoting around it.
