1.   Does electronic rust protection actually work?

It is often a difficult concept for most people to understand, first how an electrical charge can stop or retard rust in motor vehicle bodies. However, this is not a new concept, early studies that date back as far as the early 1800's have talked about electronic rust protection in that era. In the 1920's and 30's an electrical charge began to be used widely as a form of rust protection on steel gas pipelines. Adapted in the mid-1980's for automotive use in the rust protection of motor vehicles, electronic rust prevention has proven itself in some of the harshest environments on the planet. Working with commercial beach fisherman, who drive their vehicles into the ocean on a daily basis, Couplertec has seen a dramatic reduction in rust, a reduction in overall body maintenance costs of vehicles & a dramatic increase in the resale value of the vehicle.

2.   Does CouplerTec void new car warranties?

No - Capacitive Coupling Technology can not harm or interfere with anything. There are no reasons why it should or could void new car warranties.

3.   Is CouplerTec the more expensive option, over other rustproofing methods?

No - Unlike conventional sprays and coatings that need to be topped up or reapplied on an annual basis, CouplerTec is a once only cost and can even be transferred to your next vehicle.

4.   Are all Electronic Rustproofing Systems the same?

No –CouplerTec's unique patented Capacitive Coupling Technology has a proven record of performance that no other company can copy because it is patented. Here in Australia, there are a number of different types of so-called Electronic Rustproofing devices. The majority of these things do nothing other than turn on a light. Some are cathodic or impressed current and should not even be on a car. Only CouplerTec has the technology, the others don't. CouplerTec released the latest advancement in capacitive coupling technology in February 2005. This upgraded computerised technology has separated CouplerTec's systems from the rest.

5.   Does one size rust protecion fit all?

No – One system does NOT suit all sized vehicles that may be exposed to differing corrosive environs.

6.   Is cheaper car rust proffing better?

No - Unfortunately, the Electronic Rustproofing market is rife with products that do absolutely nothing as far as controlling corrosion. These devices can range from as little as $14.95 for a DIY Kit up to $1700 fitted at some New Car Dealerships. Most of these devices do nothing more than simply turn on a light so buyer beware. Only CouplerTec Capacitive Coupling is tested, proven value for money.

7.   Does the Unit interfere with on board computers, communication equipment, etc or personal health?

No - CouplerTec complies with Australian Standards for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC AS/NZS 4251.1) which means it will not interfere or hurt anything.

8.   Will electronic rust protection flatten my battery?

No - CouplerTec systems draw less power from the battery than a dashboard clock, approx. 20 - 40 mA.

9.   My car already has some rust - will CouplerTec help?

Yes - In all but very severe cases CouplerTec systems will slow the corrosion rate noticeably. It is recommended that CouplerTec be installed prior to having your vehicles rust repaired, this will allow time for the CouplerTec Technology to stabilise any existing corrosion.

10.   If I trade or sell this car can I take the unit off?

Yes - The CouplerTec system is easily transferred from one vehicle to the next. You will need to purchase a coupler refit kit.

11.   How long the electronic rust protection last?

The systems life is indefinite, the electronics are solid state (no moving parts) and the electronic board is totally encapsulated in an epoxy resin that makes it completely sealed.

12.   How many anodes does CouplerTec have?

None - CouplerTec employs technology known as Capacitive Coupling, the couplers are fixed to the vehicles painted surface and are not sacrificial, like anodes are. Any product that uses anodes or runs a wire straight to a screw or bare metal is using Cathodic/Impressed current technology that was designed for boats or underground pipes etc - NOT motor vehicles
